In a nutshell, what is the theme of the 2025 winter school at Caltech?
The BAI Winter School at Caltech explores how we can adjust agentic systems in communication, transportation, and production processes to learn from contextual space. In opposition to training foundation models, adjusting AI agents to capture different dimensions of context improves their precision, transparency, and explainability, while creating a symbiotic relationship between human and machine intelligence.
How is the alumni track different from the regular winter school?
Designed by the alumni themselves, the track offers a mix of pedagogical, social, and networking activities specifically targeted to working professionals.
What are the housing options?
Alumni benefit from negotiated hotel rates offered to BAI winter school students. Beyond these hotels, make sure that you check out the possibilities on Airbnb.
What are the opportunities for networking?
Caltech will be helping us set up specific meetings with their alumni. Alumni are also welcome to the organized dinners with Caltech faculty and staff.

There are a number of documents on different aspects of the track available in a shared folder.
How much does the Alumni track cost?
BAI is offering the session at cost to thank former students for their continued interest in the institute. We have also pulled together a number of resources to allow the alumni to benefit from the faculty and facilities used during the winter school.
What budget will I need for my stay?
Your estimated budget will depend on whether you will be traveling alone or sharing a room, as well as your social activities. Beyond the course fees, you should count between 200 and $300 a day. If you are traveling before or after the session, prices outside of the major cities are more manageable.

Do I need a visa for your trip to California?
Yes, all students and faculty will need to apply online directly for an ESTA Visa Waiver The applications must be made a minimum 4 days in advance of the date of arrival. Your passport should have at least six months validity at that time. The cost is US$ 21.00.
